I’ve made nut butter using a wide variety of nut types (pistachio, almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts) and they all follow the same instructions as this so feel free to get creative.

Not only are cashews a great source of protein and healthy fats, but they’re also packed with nutrients that can benefit athletes.
Cashews contain magnesium, which helps to regulate muscle and nerve function, and copper, which is important for bone health and energy production.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of raw cashews
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 175°C and spread the raw cashews out on a baking sheet.
- Roast the cashews for 10-12 minutes until they’re golden brown and fragrant.
- Let the cashews cool for a few minutes before transferring them to a food processor.
- Process the cashews for 8-10 minutes, or until they form a smooth and creamy butter. Pausing to scrape down the sides as necessary. You’re going to think it’ll never blend, but be patient! It will go from flour-like clumps, to a ball against the side of the food processor (keep scraping down the sides and breaking up the ball), and finally, it will turn lusciously creamy. If the mixture gets crazy hot along the way, stop and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Transfer the cashew butter to a jar or container and store in the fridge for up to two weeks
Optional extras:
While your nut butter is blending, you can choose a few add-ins if you like.
My go-tos are sea salt and chia seed. But you could also add hemp seed, flax seed, a dash of vanilla, or even dark chocolate! Dark chocolate + hazelnuts = NutelIa (delicious).
