Runaway Racing is a trail running events organiser with a focus on community, this is what initially drew us to partner with them.
Their events, predominately 50K ultras and half marathons are organised with a warm, welcoming and all inclusive atmosphere, and this really resonated with us.
Ugoku Projects will be sponsoring prizes for all their trail races and have a stand where you can purchase caps at the 50km ultras.
Their Story
Established in 2017 by Chris Bradley, Runaway Racing started out as a meet-up group taking runners on day trips to the trails from London.
These meetups still take place each month, but since 2019 they have launched several trail races, including the popular Chiltern Ridge Ultra Trail.
Since its inaugural event Runaway has gone from strength to strength now hosting seven annual races, check them out here.
Benefits of trail running events
An opportunity for runners to compete and challenge themselves in beautiful locations.
You can build confidence running trails with friends or local groups that leads to kinship.
Mixing firm trails with mud, flat routes and hills, your body works a greater range of muscle groups, not just in your legs but also the stabilising muscles in your core, feet and ankles.
Running in nature allows us to completely disconnect, lower anxiety and boost mental wellbeing.
Social gatherings at the finish line, sharing trail tales and a local cold beer is a definite draw.

First race you ran?
The Loch Ness marathon in 2015 was my first proper event. It felt absolutely brutal and the hill at 21 miles had a good go at breaking me.
Hardest Race to date?
The Artic Triple – Lofoten Ultra Trail 50 mile. A race I definitely wasn’t ready for but couldn’t say no too. My only ultra to date before this was a 50K in Suffolk, which is not the right terrain to prepare for 50 miles of Norwegian mountains.
It took me just over 15 hours and it goes down as both the hardest and most beautiful race. One day I’ll be back for the 100 miler!
Favourite aid station food / go to snack?
Mountain Fuel sports jellies
BBQ Hula Hoops
Post race go to recovery food?
Something I’ve not yet mastered, all my body wants after a race is water, beer and crisps. Not advisable if you want to recovery quickly.
Toe socks or no toe socks?
Never tried them, am I missing out on something!?
